
Seven vehicle burglaries were discovered in Orange Friday morning. According to Orange Police Department reports, two were in the 1600 block of Longfellow Drive in the Lindenwood subdivision off Old Highway 90 south of Interstate 10. The other five were in subdivisions north of the interstate.
Four of the vehicle burglaries were in the Oak Creek Village subdivision off Meeks Drive. Three were in the 2100 block of Oak Forest Drive and one was in the 4800 block of Oak Valley Drive. Another was reported in the 2200 block of Woodmont Drive, also off Meeks Drive and about a half mile south of Oak Creek Village.
Some of the victims saw car doors open when they went outside in the morning. Several firearms were reported missing from the vehicles and some of the victims were not sure their cars had been locked.
Then Monday evening a man who lives in the 1500 block of Burton Drive went to the police station to report a 9mm Glock semi-automatic was missing from his vehicle. He said it may have been stolen while he was at work at Walmart.
Crooks were targeting vehicles during the long weekend. Friday morning, a man at the apartments at 208 10th Street, reported finding an abandoned Ford F-350 pickup truck parked on grass between two buildings. Police said the truck had been reported stolen from a Port Neches business. The owner was notified.
Early Monday morning, a man reported his Ford Crown Victoria had been stolen from the Orange Inn, 2900 Interstate 10. He told police he had both sets of keys and did not know how the thief started it.
The car was found about six hours later at Crawdad’s, 4080 Interstate 10 at FM 1442.
Also Monday morning, Sabine River Ford, 1601 Green Avenue, reported missing auto parts.
