A 59-year-old man sleeping on the couch in his apartment was shot in the arm early Friday by a stray bullet from a shooting outside. A younger man outside was hit by multiple gunshots. Both are in stable condition at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont and are expected to survive, Orange police report.
The shooting was about 2:30 a.m. at the Sabine Park Apartments, formerly The Oaks, at 111 Pine Avenue. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the man shot in the arm is Donald Freeman, who lives at the apartments.
The other victim is 20-year-old Lorenzo Barrow of Houma, Louisiana, who was visting at the complex.
Police Friday are still looking for a suspect. Captain Enmon said Barrow apparently was in a dispute with another person who fired the shots. “I don’t want people to be thinking there is a crazy gunman running around,” Enmon said.
Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Orange Police Department at 409-883-1026.
