A 40-year-old Bridge City man was arrested for possession of heroin after a traffic stop on MacArthur Drive Saturday morning.
Orange police report finding dark-stained pieces of cotton balls. The substance on the cotton balls is believed to be burned heroin. Officer Seth Williams reported the cotton and other items were found in a camouflage box found under the driver’s seat of a pickup truck.
Officer Williams stopped the pickup truck at 10:22 a.m. Saturday for the traffic violation of failing to signal a change of lanes. He said the pickup truck was similar to one seen on a surveillance camera taking a trailer from a local business.
During a search of the truck, police found the box. It also contained a bag of syringes, a bag of cotton, a metal spoon with burn marks on the bottom.
Timothy Paul Lachney, who was driving the pickup, was arrested for felony possession of a dangerous drug and taken to the Orange County Jail.
Medical first responders with the Orange Fire Department went to a house Sunday for a man with a health emergency. While beginning emergency resuscitation measures, the firefighters discovered a small fire in the house.
Orange police report the call was at 2 a.m. a house on Carpenter’s Place. The fire was put out, however, the man did not survive. His death is not considered related to the fire.
