Orange Police report an interesting case of a man being arrested after he claimed someone fired shots at him.
The call of shots fired came in Sept. 7 around 10pm from a resident on 15th Street. During their investigation, officers said the disturbance started at the Shell Station on 16th when a man in a pickup got into an altercation with several people in another vehicle.
Police believe the man in the pickup, Donald Wofford of Leesville, La, began following the car towards 14th St. and witnesses say the passenger in the car fired several shots out of the window towards the truck. The truck would pull into a front yard at 14th and Sholars and got stuck in the wet grass. The car meantime, left the area.
Wofford got out of the truck and began walking away down Sholars.
Police located Wofford after finding his truck. Officers said he kept changing his story and he also had a strong smell of alcohol coming from his person. Wofford admitted to drinking. Officers felt Wofford was intoxicated to the point he posed a danger to himself and others. He was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Orange County Jail.
