Friday morning Orange Police received a call from the Velma Jeter Apartments on Allie Payne saying a 20 year old man in the house was threatening to harm himself.
When police arrived the man left the home and evaded police by running towards Little Cypress Intermediate. The school, along with Little Cypress Elementary were put on lockdown.
The man crossed Allie Payne and ran through a field and into the woods behind the Sabine House. After about a 30 minute search, police found the man in a tree. They were able to talk him down and was taken for a mental evaluation. No one was injured during the incident and the Sheriff’s Office and Constable Lannie Claybar assisted.
