Lamar State College Orange is expanding to Hardin County and President Dr. Thomas Johnson said it goes back to when he started at LSCO several years ago when he said, “If someone wants to go to college, we want to do everything we can to make that happen.”
The Orange campus has seen a 12 percent increase in enrollment and when they looked at where their students were coming from, Hardin County kept popping up.
So LSCO has purchased a 3000 square foot building on Main Street in Lumberton that was once a doctors office, and have begun to renovate. The photo above is a rendition of the new campus. The expected opening in Hardin County is Spring 2024.
“Time and transportation are issues we hear about from students when it comes to attending college,” Johnson said. “If we can help those students who otherwise may not be able to attend a college, then it’s a win-win for both of us.”
LSCO offers scholarships and financial aid for students. You can learn more on their website www.lsco.edu
The Orange Campus will also have a groundbreaking for their new 55,000 square foot Academic Building on Wednesday, April 19.
