Lamar University and Lamar State College Orange Partner to Expand Leadership Courses at LSCO Campus
Lamar University and Lamar State College Orange (LSCO) are proud to announce an innovative partnership that brings leadership courses directly to the LSCO campus. This collaboration makes advanced education more accessible to LSCO students and the surrounding community, enhancing career readiness and providing a meaningful impact within the local community.
Through this partnership, LSCO students can seamlessly continue their education with Lamar University, benefiting from high-quality courses delivered right on the LSCO campus. Additionally, this convenient pathway will count and apply courses taken at LSCO toward an LU bachelor’s degree in leadership (pending THECB and SACSCOC approval), ensuring students make progress without interruption or additional steps.
“This initiative is a significant step in building success for Southeast Texas,” said Lamar University President Jaime Taylor. “By preparing future leaders with leadership courses, we’re not just educating students, we’re fostering a stronger, more resilient community.”
The collaboration between LSCO and LU reflects a shared commitment to student success and regional growth, enabling students to thrive academically and professionally.
LSCO President Dr. Tom Johnson said, “This is a great day for the Orange community and I’m excited to be part of this incredible opportunity. It’s a big step in the right direction giving our students a chance to earn a bachelor’s degree right here in Orange County from a prestigious institution like Lamar University.”
Dr. Wendy Elmore, LSCO Provost & Executive Vice President said, “This partnership with Lamar University underscores a deep devotion to higher education in our community. Together, we’re removing barriers and providing access to a successful and fulfilling future.”
