Louise Dolle Fuselier passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 12, 2025.
She was born in Seguin, Texas on November 5, 1932, to Henry and Frances Dolle. She was raised with her sister, Betty Ann, in a home built by her father on a portion of land nestled between both sets of her grandparents. She graduated as salutatorian from Dowdy High School and was offered a scholarship to attend Texas Lutheran College. However, she chose to pursue a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. This decision proved to be fruitful for Louise in many ways. The most notable was her chance meeting of Ralph Fuselier. After knowing one another for a month, and dating for a month, Ralph told Louise, “Let’s take a chance and get married. If it doesn’t work, it won’t be anyone’s fault.” Louise said, “yes” and a month later they married on August 11th, 1957. After their honeymoon in Biloxi, Mississippi, they made their home in Beaumont, Texas for the next five years. They then moved to Orange and began raising their family together. Louise started her career as a Telephone Operator for the telephone company and retired after 33 years of service as one of the top Sales Representatives in the state of Texas. She started her next career the following Monday as a Receptionist and Office Manager for Dr. James D. Rice. Louise was a person that received her energy from interacting with people, so she was quite fulfilled in this new career. In 1994 she decided to retire to spend more time with Ralph and make herself available for the upcoming grandchildren. Retirement was enjoyable for Louise as she spent time with family and friends, watching her grandchildren grow up, and traveling.
Some of Louise’s admirable qualities included her ability to meet a stranger and find some type of commonality that would eventually lead to a lasting friendship, her “green thumb”- Louise would often be traveling and find a new plant that she thought would look beautiful in her yard. She would snip off a small portion of the plant, wrap it in a wet tissue and bring it to her greenhouse to nurture it and eventually transplant it into her yard, and lastly her sharp memory and extraordinary cooking skills- She combined these two qualities into one by ensuring that whenever you visited, you would have all your favorite foods when she was your hostess. This could range from shrimp and crab gumbo, chicken and sausage gumbo, chicken and dumplings, pimento cheese, your favorite pistachio ice cream, chocolate frosted angel food cake, homemade vanilla ice cream, chocolate chip muffins, cowboy cookies, or her amazing brownies. To say Louise will be missed would be an understatement. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion, touching the lives of everyone who had the pleasure to know her.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Frances Dolle; husband, Ralph Fuselier; brothers-in-law, C.H. “Pokey” Matthies, and Howard Mack; and sister-in-law, Delpha Mack.
She is survived by sister Betty Ann Matthies; her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jimmy Glover; son and daughter-in-law Drs. Clay and Mary Fuselier; grandchildren, Andrew Glover, Emily Glover, Evelyn Fuselier, Lucy Fuselier, Mary Claire Fuselier, and Susie Fuselier; nephews and niece, Henry Matthies, Jimmy Mack, Elizabeth Kelly, Jeffrey Mack, and Wesley Matthies.
