
The Stark Museum of Art is opening a new exhibit which features its roots in Orange. The Long Shadow: The Lutcher-Stark Lumber Dynasty exhibit opens Saturday, January 27 at the museum.
The exhibit features historic photographs and documents which tell the story of the Lutcher and Stark families at work particularly with the lumber industry in the Orange community. A special reception will be held Saturday, January 27, from 1:00-4:00 PM in the new education wing of the museum.
Drew Whatley, Educator for Public History, will give a brief talk on the families influence in developing a deepwater port for Orange. Afterwards authors of the award-winning book Long Shadow, Ellen Rienstra and JoAnn Stiles, will be on hand in the museum to sign copies of their book which will be available for sale.
