The First Financial Bank Athlete of the Week is Orangefield senior Leyton Loft.
Loft got his first start as an outside linebacker last week and had 11 tackles. After he plays football on Friday night he gets up early Saturday morning to run Cross Country for the Bobcats.
His play on the field has started to impress head football coach Josh Smalley. “He does anything you ask him to do. He’ll even get in on the Scout team if we ask him to. Anyway he can help the team, he does.” But what he has been doing off the field has impressed the coach for a longer time.
Smalley said, “Leyton says the prayer in the locker room before each each game. The most impressive thing to me about him is how he lives his life. He lives for Christ and he doesn’t waiver.”
“Seeing a kid read the Bible in the locker room is awesome. With everything these young people have craving their attention these days, seeing a kid live for Jesus is hands down the most impressive thing there is.”
