
Lillie Lorraine Gordey, 70, of Bridge City Texas, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2025.
Born on July 13, 1954, in Orange, Texas, Lillie was the daughter of Walter D. Hoffpauir and Sarah (Ousley) Hoffpauir. She spent many dedicated years working as a clerk in the insurance industry. Beyond her professional life, Lillie’s heart found its true calling in nurturing her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. Her love for music filled her days; the gentle melodies of her guitar and piano echoed her spirit. A devoted reader of the Bible, she embraced its teachings with depth and reverence.
Lillie’s vibrant presence was a beacon to those around her. She was known for her memorable sayings: “Go Home,” “Get Outta My Refrigerator,” and “If You Can’t Teach Me Don’t Criticize Me”—each reflecting her candid humor and heartfelt wisdom.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sarah Hoffpauir; and siblings Terry Hoffpauir, Martha Hoffpauir, Ralph Hoffpauir, Esther Hoffpauir, and Samuel Hoffpauir.
Lillie’s life was deeply intertwined with her beloved husband of 40 years, Mark Gordey. Together they shared a bond that brought light into every corner of their lives. She is also lovingly remembered by her son Frank Morgan (Lisa Greenwell); son Michael Gordey and his fiancée Kelsey Tramel; grandchildren Cale Morgan and Katelyn Love and husband Colton Love; as well as siblings Walter Hoffpauir Jr., Kathleen Kelley, Frances Lawson, Frederick Hoffpauir, James Hoffpauir; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held at The Cemetery, 16698 FM 1130, Orange, Texas 77632 on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Broadcasting Network.
