The Bassmaster High School Championship got underway Thursday at Lake Hartwell in South Carolina with some 480 boats from around the country trying to weigh-in their three best fish on Day One.
To qualify you had to fish a qualifying tournament in your home area and finish at or above the cutoff point. Once qualified you have to want to spend the time and money to trailer your fishermen and rig to the east coast.
With that being said our area of Texas is well represented after traveling more than 800 miles.
Leading our area after Day One are Slade Nunnally/Jacob Longlois of LCM with a three fish total of 9-9 which is good for 20th place going into Day Two.

The leaders of the tournament are from Virginia with a total of 12-7. They lead an Alabama team by one ounce. The big bass of the day was a 6-15. Day Two weigh-in begins at 2:20pm ET Friday with the Top 12 fishing Saturday.
