Monday night, the Little Cypress Lions installed officers for the 2017-2018 fiscal year and for the first time have a female President. Kim Dickerson was installed as President Monday night. Kim is employed as the Operations Officer at First Financial Bank here in Orange and she has served the community through Altrusa, CASA, and Chamber of Commerce Ambassador as well as Secretary and First Vice President of the LC Lions. Lions International is celebrating their 100-year anniversary this year and being founded in 1917 it was not unusual that it was a men’s only organization. The Little Cypress Lions began in 1952 as a men’s only club like most other civic clubs at the time. It was not until 1987 that Lions International ended the ban on women. Having several female members over the years, this year marks the first to have a female in the highest position.
Rick Calliham was recognized as this year’s recipient as Lion of the Year. Rick is the owner of Rick Calliham Insurance with Farmers in Pinehurst and is a steady servant of all the Lions activities throughout the year.
