
The Bridge City soccer team is on fire right now, winners of nine straight after beating Silsbee 4-1 on Friday.
“Right now we’re just taking things one match at a time trying to compete for a district championship,” said Head Coach Paul Landry. “The guys are so competitive and want to be the best. We have a big group of seniors and several of these guys have played together for years. The experience, trust, and chemistry these guys have is a recipe for success as shown by the 9 match win streak.”
Forward, Nate Stafford leads the team with 28 goals, he is explosive and a threat to score at anytime. Austin Bellanger is also a threat to score as evidenced by his 4 goal game at Vidor. Team Captain, Midfielder Peyton Doucet leads the team with 12 assists. Bridge City is led by a strong midfield of Peyton, Jagger Carlin, Hudson Campbell and Jason Gutierrez.

Defensively the Cardinals are led by Team Captain Eric Carranza and Hunter Silveira who anchor the middle of the defense. Evan Jackson and Connor Smith round out the starting back line for the Red Birds.
The Cardinals feature two goal keepers in Atticus Moore and Bryce Breeden. Landry said, “Both of these guys are competitive and offer different styles of play in the goal.”
The Cardinals are headed back to the playoffs for the 4th time in 5 seasons and would love to be the first team in school history to win a playoff game. “Our goal from the beginning of the season was to win district and get over the hump in the playoffs.”
This Cardinals Soccer team has the most wins in school history with a 16-4 record with two games left in the regular season. Bridge City travels to LCM Tuesday to take on the Bears.
