The Deweyville Lady Pirates are the WOS tournament Champions! The LP’s had a 5-1 record in the tournament, including beating the Buna Lady Cougars in the championship 6-3.
DV lost to Buna in the first game of the tournament 8-2 then battled back to beat East Chambers 9-3, West Brook JV 17-1, Beaumont United 7-4, and WOS 18-3 in the semifinals.
The Lady Pirates had great pitching performances by Baylee Smith all weekend and Baylee also hit her varsity home run against WOS in the semifinal game. Shortstop Aleigha Raymer led the defense that played solid all tournament. The Lady Pirates are now 7-5 overall and 1-0 in district with a big 17-6 win over Evadale in its first district game.
