The Christmas holiday was extra special for the Deweyville Lady Pirates as they won the Chester Tournament Friday with a dramatic 44-43 win over the host Yellowjackets in the championship.
Coach Dusti Boykin and her squad went 4-0 in the tournament with wins over Spurger, Latexo, Lead Academy and Chester.
In the four victories, Emilee Totino finished with a total of 72 points and 29 rebounds, Presley Clark with 33 points and 17 rebounds, Jillian Thompson 23 rebounds, Haley Williams with 14 rebounds 11 points, Adisyn Thompson with 24 points, and Emily Johnson with 11 points.
Deweyville will open district Jan. 6 at home vs. Evadale.

The Deweyville boys also played at Chester, going 2-2 with wins over Lead Academy and Little Centerville and losses to Latexo and Spurger.
