Thanks to the LCM bats and the pitching of Brianna Frenzel, the Lady Bears needed only five innings to beat Hamshire-Fannett 11-0 to open district play on Tuesday.
Taking a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth, LCM put up 10 runs thanks to big hits from Renna Toomey, Joanna Henry and freshman Bailey Frenzel. And the biggest hit in the inning was a three run homer by Megan Peveto.
Frenzel had a no hitter until the top of the fifth when she gave up her only hit of the game. She also struck out nine in the win for the 16-1 (1-0) Bears.
LCM will get the rest of Spring Break off and will next face West Orange-Stark on Tuesday, March 20.
