Kimmy was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on November 5, 1943. She was the beautiful daughter of Merle & Maxine Gutteridge. Her family moved to Orange in 1955 with Spencer Chemical. From the moment she arrived, she loved Orange and regarded it as a great place to live. She cherished her friends and her role in the community. She graduated from Stark High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Lamar University. She was active in various organizations, once serving as President of the Orange Service League, a member of the Lutcher Theatre Board, and performing in many plays with OCP. She was part of the Antique Study Group and Ivy League Garden Club.
She was married to the love of her life, Ebb Moore, for forty-five years. Together, they made their dreams into successful business ventures, most notably, Parlours, a home and decor retail shop in Orange that also provided interior design services. Their first store operated out of an old house, and after two relocations, they settled on Green Ave, establishing one of the leading and most successful stores on the street. They worked together every day, retiring in 2018 after thirty-nine years. In 2000, they moved from Orange to Fulshear, and thanks to family and the help of Doctors at Kelsey Seybold, Kimmy fought cancer and kidney disease in great care and without complaining. They filled each other lives with laughter. They were past Mardi Gras Krewe L’Orange members and voted King & Queen in 2011.
Kimmy was a woman of intelligence and insight who carried herself with elegance and style. She was opinionated and, at times, bossy, which we loved, along with her swift wit and always having the last word. She loved dancing, and if there was a party in town, she wanted to be there. She forged ahead with her passions, and everything she touched, she made beautiful. In her last days, she said she had the most wonderful life. She left this world on her terms, passing away on November 24, peacefully in her home. She instructed Ebb to buy a keg and have a party when she passed. In celebration of her life, please join us:
