Dr. Jay Killgo,
Vidor Independent School District Superintendent of Schools, was recently
honored by Lamar University with a Crystal Star Award. The College of Education
was formed sixty years ago at the university, and has since 2007 become the
largest provider of online educational programs in Texas with more than 12,000
alumni. Each department selected a Crystal Star Alumni based on
outstanding achievements in their discipline since graduation. Killgo has
been superintendent of Vidor ISD since 2012, and was Vidor High School principal
in the five years preceding that. He was also a principal at Hull-Daisetta, and
working in Jasper, Tomball, and Little Cypress-Mauriceville school
districts. He earned his undergraduate degree from Sam Houston State
University in 1995, majoring in history with an English minor. His master’s
degree in Educational Administration was earned at Lamar University in 2003,
and his doctorate in Education Administration in 2010.
