Kathryn LaRue Vessel, 74, passed away on October 15. 2024 at her home in Crossroads, TX. She was born on April 12, 1950, in Orange, TX to Jean and Mary Ann (Retherford) Coon.
Kathy graduated in 1969 from West Orange High School and went onto work for the city of Houston then returned to Orange, TX where she was employed at Blunt Brothers. She was a faithful woman who made time daily to say her prayers. Her favorite verses are Psalm 23-24. She kept an incredibly positive outlook on life and was prepared for life’s end. As a final note she wrote “ I am no longer in a wheelchair sister so be happy for me and do not be sad.” If you knew Kathy, you knew that she was a very strong, courageous, and independent person.
She loved reading, shopping, crocheting, Hallmark movies and sitting outside to be with nature. Kathy volunteered for many years with Casa. She made homemade Christmas stockings and helped provide meals for the homeless. Kathy will be remembered as a very happy, loving and giving person even when life was not always easy for her.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and former husband, Jimmy Vessel.
She is survived by her loving family, brother, David Coon and wife, Susan of Ft. Smith, AR; two sisters, Anna LeJune of Midlothian, TX, Vickie Smith and husband, Mike of Crossroads, TX; She was the loving aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who will cherish her memory.
She was loved by all and will be missed by her family and friends. The family will be holding a private service at a later time in Orange, TX.
