Kathleen McCoy Farmer Goforth, 85, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 30, 2019, in Beaumont, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 2, 2019, at North Orange Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Lynn Ashcraft and Reverend Chip Anthony of North Orange Baptist Church. Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Tazewell, Tennessee, on September 4, 1933, she was the daughter of Joseph E. Farmer and Selda (Janeway) Farmer. Kathleen was a very active member of North Orange Baptist Church where she was the Director of the nursery for many years and a member of the Benevolence Committee. She was also a part of the Senior Adult Ministry, taught crochet, and helped with the Homebound Ministry. Kathleen was a longtime member of the Lutcher Theater Guild as well as being on the welcoming committee for her neighborhood where she would cook for new neighbors and invite them to church with her. She was a prayer warrior and loved to help and witness to others. Kathleen enjoyed traveling and has even been to all 50 states. She loved her family and friends dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Selda Farmer; her loving husband of 44 years, Clyde H. Goforth, Jr.; and her daughter, Sylvia Lynn Goforth.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Clyde E. “Eddie” Goforth and wife Paula, of Orange, Virginia “Gennie” Grundy and husband James, of Jacksonville, and Nancye McAfee and husband Ken, of Orange; grandchildren, Amy Tisdale, Tonya Gurley, Allison Southerland, Brittany Middendorf, Charlea Rosier, Katie McAfee, and Matthew McAfee; great-grandchildren, Kade and Abby Southerland, Emma and Remi Rosier, Rebecca and Caleb Tisdale, and Dylan and Austin Gurley; sister, Mary Lee Isley, of Maryville, TN; along with numerous other loving family and friends.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be James Grundy, Ken McAfee, Matthew McAfee, Matt Tisdale, Steve Gurley, Kenny Southerland, Brandon Rosier, Jimmy Middendorf, and the North Orange Senior Adult Group.
