Judy Lynell Dorman, 77, of Orange, Texas, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas. Judy was born on June 22, 1946, in Orange, TX, to Clyde and Billie Stanfield. She attended Lutcher Stark High school and graduated in 1964. She married John Cecil Dorman, in Orange, TX on December 2,1966. And they had three children: Clyde Allen, Cristal, and Billie.
She was a homemaker, caregiver, wife and mother the majority of her life. Our mom loved big! Family was everything to her. She was a caregiver to many throughout her life but especially to our Dad. After our Dad’s accident in 1978, she took care of him day and night for many years. We believe she was one of the original home health care nurses! She loved our Dad and went to the ends of the earth for him. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for him. My sister, Billie, and I were the light of her world! She was so dedicated and supportive to us. She was at every school function, band and drill team performance, and dance recitals taking pictures and recording videos. Mom always made everything special, whether it was a birthday, holiday or just an ordinary day!
She loved to plan and decorate for a party for anyone or anything. She was an avid crafter including scrapbooking, painting, sewing and crocheting. She loved to play cards and dominos with family and friends. For as long as we can remember, she hosted a Christmas Eve party at our house. It was a tradition for her to cook gumbo and have family and friends over on that day. She went out of her way to make sure every person who came had a present under the tree and a stocking full of goodies! She loved having birthday parties for family and always made it special with a homemade cake. She welcomed anybody into her home with big open arms. If someone needed a place to stay, they were always welcome. After Frank and I married, she gained a son and loved him as such. Frank quickly became her go to for anything that came up. She knew he could solve any problem that came our way. They enjoyed each other’s company and picked at each other all the time. Her only granddaughter, Mackenzie, was her pride and joy!!
Once Mackenzie came along, the rest of us were subpar. Mom loved her with all her heart and was so proud of her. If Mackenzie was there, Mom wanted to be there. She was at every birthday, dance recital, and school event for her, as well. Mom was always ready to go anywhere and do anything with her, from baking cookies to having slumber parties. She loved taking her places just to spend time with her.
She was a proud alumnus of the Lutcher Stark class of 1964 and enjoyed planning and attending reunions and get-togethers with her Tiger classmates. She was a member of Hartburg Baptist church, where she was the treasurer for several years, as well as the Kingdom Kids leader. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, and her beloved chihuahua, Stan. Preceding in death by her parents Clyde and Billie Standfield; Judy’s husband of 54 years, John Cecil Dorman; and their infant son Clyde Allen Dorman; Judy’s sisters Blanche Murphy and Ginger Heuer; and niece Brittany Heuer. Survived by her daughter and son -in – law, Cristal and Frank Fertitta; Her daughter Billie Dorman; and her only granddaughter Mackenzie Fertitta; and her niece Ashley Heuer, as well as other nieces and nephews.
