
Joyce Maria Chargois, 97, of Vidor, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at her home. A devoted resident of Vidor for 65 years, Joyce lived a life filled with faith, service, and love for her family.
She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and dedicated 30 years of her life as a Third Order Dominican nun from 1960–1990. Joyce worked as the secretary of Herman Crocker Agency for 50 years, where her kindness and steady presence left a lasting impact on many.
A graduate of St. Anthony High School, Joyce was proud to be a member of the Melody Maids from 1942–1944, sharing her gift of music with the community. She married the love of her life, Armand Chargois, in 1946, and together they built a family rooted in love and faith. Talented and passionate about music, Joyce took lessons in piano, voice, and violin, and she especially cherished musicals, with The Sound of Music holding a special place in her heart.
Joyce is survived by her children: Charles Chargois and wife Jan of San Marcos, TX; Yvonne Chargois Johnson of Vidor, TX; Armand Chargois of Jarrell, TX; and Cody Chargois and wife Julie of Vidor, TX. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Armand Chargois; her sons, Henry Mayo Chargois and John Robin Chargois; her parents Dewey and Mae Doga and brother Dewey A. Doga Jr.
Joyce’s legacy of faith, love, and music will forever be treasured by all who knew her.
