Johnnie Earl Perkins age 66, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025 at his home in Forest Heights, Orange, Texas.
Johnnie was born in Orange, Texas on August 14, 1958, to Vernon Perkins and Verba Lee Deason. He was raised around Deweyville, Texas and graduated from Deweyville High School. In his younger years he worked many jobs. During that time he was an active member of the “United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry.” He was also part of the Local 195 Union in the late 1970s. He also worked in several ship yards through the years.
Johnnie is proceeded in death by his parents Vernon and Verba Lee Perkins; brother Vernon Perkins Jr.; sister Brenda Diane Ratcliff; grandparents Johnny and Glennie McCullough Perkins; Earl and Laura Deason and his long time companion Mattie Slaydon.
Johnnie is survived by his children; son, Robert Perkins and wife Kelli of Newton, Texas; daughter, Kimberly Bailey of Newton, Texas and stepson Charles Elliott and wife Jessica of Deridder, Louisiana; two grand daughters; three grandsons; aunt Freddie Deason and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral service but a memorial service at a later date that will be posted. Arrangements were made under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
