
John Phillip Maglothin, 74, of Orange Texas went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2025 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s & Parkinson’s. He was born on March 25, 1951 in Orange, Tx. The only son of John David and Mildred May (Steppe) Maglothin. He graduated from Little Cypress High School in 1970 and attended Lamar University before going to work for International Paper/Temple Inland, he retired after 30 years.
John had a great sense of humor and could make you laugh in any situation. He was a commercial orchid grower, traveling to Hawaii many times to purchase orchids for upcoming orchid shows, where he won many awards.
John is survived by his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sharren (Kibodeaux) Maglothin. They were married for 54 years. He is also survived by his two sons John Phillip Maglothin II and Joseph David Maglothin and wife Allison.
Grandchildren Kayleigh Harjers. Melanie Maglothin, Joseph David Maglothin II and great grandchildren. Sisters Janice Vercher of Lufkin, Tx and Irene Maglothin of Orange, Tx. His extended family Glenn Kibodeaux, Dennis and Deborah Kibodeaux, Jack and Debra Kibodeaux, Christine and Larry Ford and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was a part of a large group of friends (Supper Club) that gathered every Wednesday to eat, laugh, and talk. He always kept them laughing with one of his stories or one of his jokes. He enjoyed taking trips and cruising with all his friends and family, he will be greatly missed.
A gathering of friends and family will be August 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1401 Park Ave. Orange, Tx 77630.
