
John Henry Patronella, 87, of Buna, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at home.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with a rosery to start at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon Melvin Payne. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on June 24, 1937, he was the son of Sam Patronella and Rose (Gambini) Patronella. John was known for his warm heart and the love he shared with his family, especially as a “Grandpa” to all the grandchildren. John had a fulfilling career as a Meat Cutter at Kroger, where he was known for his skills and dedication. He proudly served in the United States National Guard as a cook in the 1960s, showcasing his love for food and cooking. He particularly enjoyed preparing dishes like spaghetti and lasagna, sharing these meals with family and friends. In addition to his culinary talents, John had a fondness for puzzle books, especially Sudoku. He was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, and also contributed his time to the Senior Club, the Bereavement Team and the Knight’s of Columbus 4th degree. John leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will be cherished by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Rose Patronella; son, Joseph Patronella; siblings, Peter Patronella, Joe Patronella, Josephine Lilyquist, Patricia Vito, Antoynette Young, and Marie Patronella.
He is survived by the love of his life of 67 years, Lyndia Patronella; son, John Patronella, Jr. and wife Shannon; daughters, Pam Lestage and husband James, and Patsy McClelland and husband Craig; grandchildren, Misty Patronella and wife Janet Secondi, Jaclyn Patronella, John Paul Patronella and wife Brielle, and Louis McClelland; great grandchildren, Natalie Patronella and Jacob Secondi; sister, Lucy Sciarillo; sister-in-law, Katherine Duff; brothers-in-law, John Chapman, Wayne Chapman, and Bobby Credeur; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Patronella, Jr., Misty Patronella, Jaclyn Patronella, John Paul Patronella, Jacob Secondi, and Louis McClelland.
