Janina Marie King, 55, of Vidor, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on April 10, 1970, in Yonkers, New York, Janina was a lifelong resident of Vidor. She dedicated her life to education and was a passionate teacher who deeply loved her work and the many students whose lives she touched over the years.
Janina was incredibly creative and crafty, always finding new ways to express her artistic side. She loved traveling, girls’ trips, camping, and going to concerts. Outgoing by nature, she never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all, Janina cherished time spent with her friends and family, who were the center of her world.
She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, JB King of Vidor, Texas; her son Bret King of Vidor, Texas; and “her twinkie” Randi Bruce of Vidor, Texas.
She is also survived by her biological sister and devoted caregiver, Doreen Blacksher and husband Donnie of Vidor, Texas; brothers Rick Grassi and wife Christina of Castle Rock, Colorado; and Mike O’Brien and wife Destiny of Austin, Texas. Her nephews: Justin Miller, Beau Blacksher, and Nick Grassi; Nieces: Jessica Baker, Alyse Grassi, Olivia Grassi, Cailyn O’brien and many great nieces and nephews.
Janina shared special bonds with her “sisters in life,” Melissa Mansfield Smith, Scarlett Holmes Foster, Melanie Lout Cooper, and Penny Casey Gaudet.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her niece, Jessica Miller Baker, for all of her care and support for Janina.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Oaks in Vidor. Janina’s warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
