
The Celebration of Life for Mr. James P. Mims, 75, of Orange, will be held during a Funeral Mass, Saturday, August 9, 2025. at 10am, at St. Therese Catholic Church under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 8:30 until 9:30am. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30. Rites of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mary Cemetery. Known to most as “Patrick,” James Patrick Mims was born to Elvina Rose (Jackson) Mims and James Charles Mims, Saturday, August 27, 1949, in Orange, Texas.
A member of St. Therese Catholic Church, he attended St. Therese Elementary School and then attended and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Orange. Remaining close to God, Patrick enrolled in St. Augustine Seminary in Bay St. Louis Ms. Throughout his life he always sought to remain close to and learn more about his maker and creator.
Patrick then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Lance Corporal Mims was Discharged With Honors. He was awarded the National Defense Metal, the Vietnamese Service Metal, the Vietnamese Campaign Metal, and the Good Conduct Metal.
On August 18, 1973, Brenda Joyce Molette and James Patrick Mims united in Holy Matrimony. They shared their lives together…until death do us part. Working years were spent at the former Levingston Shipyard.
Patrick considered himself a GREAT cook! He loved to Bar-B-Que and he ..didn’t love…the Dallas Cowboys!
He passed in the comfort of his home Saturday, August 2, 2025. Preceding him in death were his daughter, Mironda Mims and grandson, Josiah Dunson, his parents, and brother, Adrian “Chip”
Mims.
Forever cherishing his memory are his wife Brenda, daughters , Latosha Dunson, LaKeshia Mims and LaJamieka Mims, sisters, Carol Campbell, Regina Cameron and Belinda Green, brother, Gary Mims, grandsons, Matthew Patrick– Jamail Mims, JaJuan Dunson, Jaiden Dunson, and Javian Dunson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
