James Dennis Parsley, 67, of Vidor, TX, passed away on April 30, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, following a valiant fight against a prolonged illness. He was born in Beaumont on August 8, 1955, the oldest of three brothers. He was known to family as Dennis and to friends and co-workers as âJD.â
Dennis was a life time resident of Vidor, graduating from Vidor High School in 1973. He was a boy scout in troop 191 and ROTC member using the skills he learned all his life. Dennis loved music, learning to play the trumpet in the Mighty Pirate Marching Band and continuing to play in college. Later in life he learned to play the dulcimer and used his talents playing in churches, jam sessions and for his own enjoyment.
Following high school, he worked as an auto mechanic and attended Lamar University. In 1976 he started his apprenticeship with Pipefitters Local 195 and became a Journeyman in 1979. In 2013, he joined Total Energies as an instrument technician where he worked for the rest of his life.
Dennis enjoyed many activities over his lifetime including: drag racing, flying RC planes, shooting and teaching gun safety. He was a member of Orange County Radio Control Club, enjoyed flying control line and radio control planes for 52 years. He enjoyed local bands and dancing with his wife.
Among his greatest passions and loves was his fellowship with Christ and ardent love of his country.
Dennis was preceded in death by his two precious infants, his brother, Randy and his father, Monroe. He leaves behind his loving wife, Carol, of 24 years; his mother, Anita; his brother, Billy and sister-in-law, Debbie; sons and daughters-in-law Seth and Jill, Nathan and Kim, and James and Elizabeth; grandchildren Nolan, Sam and Evie as well as numerous family members including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, cherished friends, work associates and union brothers and sisters.
