Construction is supposed to start early next year to widen 10 miles of Interstate 10 from the KCS Railroad to FM 1442 in Orange County.
The Texas Department of Public Transportation reports that Sterling Delaware Holding Company was awarded the $13 million project. The section of the interstate will be widened from four lanes to six lanes.
The money is coming from a vote last year on a proposition to dedicate a portion of oil and gas tax revenue money to the state highway fund. TxDOT is planning 200 projects to be financed by the income.
