Tuesday night at the Pinehurst city council meeting, Chris Humble announced he was stepping down as Police Chief after almost two years on the job. He has accepted a position with the new LCMCISD Police Department.
“I took this job (in Pinehurst) thinking it would be my last, but this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” Humble told council. “It’s been an honor to work here and I’m thankful for everyone in the department.” Humble explained that his wife (Tessa) works in the district and they would get summers off together. It’s also a return to where he spent many years on the job.
Humble will be assigned to the high school where he spent many years patrolling the hallways as an employee of the sheriff’s department, and when he was constable.
“I taught the D.A.R.E. program there when it started many years ago and was later contracted to work with the district,” he said. “I enjoyed the connection I had with the kids, building relationships.”
Jocelyn Trussell, an 11 year veteran of the Pinehurst Police Department, was attending LCM when Humble was there. She has been named the Interim Police Chief.
“I appreciate the opportunity,” she said. Trussell has been busy the last two weeks leading the investigation into identifying the body that was discovered in Adams Bayou.
“Chief Humble has allowed me to learn what he does as chief so our department will continue to do what we’ve done and that’s serve the citizens of Pinehurst,” she told KOGT.com.
Trussell said she hasn’t decided whether or not she’ll apply for the job full time. The city has announced they’re accepting applications for the position. (see below)
