Earlier Monday morning, at approximately 7:00 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 5400 block of Highway 90 West in Vinton in reference to suspicious circumstances.
During the initial investigation, it was revealed the complainant located what is believed to be human remains in a wooded area off the roadway. CPSO detectives and the Forensic Investigation Unit were at the scene processing the area. The Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office took possession of the remains, which will be sent for further testing and identification.
Vinton Police Department and Union Pacific Police are also on scene assisting in the investigation. The investigation is currently in the infancy stages and there is no further information to release at this time.
