Two houses were damaged by fires Saturday in Orange. The Orange Fire Department went to 301 Camellia Drive in Roselawn at 12:30 p.m. after a 9-1-1 call. Firefighters saw flames and heavy smoke coming from one side of the one-story house when they arrived. They had the fire under control within 10 minutes and crews stayed on the scene for two and a half hours. The department reports the fire started in the hallway and spread up the attic.
Then at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Orange firefighters were called to 1704 Arkansas Street in the Cove neighborhood to find the kitchen of a one-story house on fire. The blaze was under control in 10 minutes. The Orange Fire Department reports the fire appears to have started in a window air-conditioner in the kitchen. Damage was contained to the kitchen and the outside porch. Firefighters stayed at the scene for two hours.
The Orange County Emergency Services District No. 4 (Mauriceville and McLewis) went to a car fire Saturday evening on the westbound Interstate 10 overpass at FM 1442. The car was a total loss.
