Firefighters were called to a house fire at 2299 Alvin in the Forest Heights Subdivision off of Hwy. 87 North Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters at the scene said the homeowner went through the fire to get out of the home and received burns to his body. He was transported to a Beaumont hospital. They believe the fire started under the carport and then caught the home on fire.
