Pinehurst City Administrator Robbie Hood handed his letter of resignation to Mayor Dan Mohon and the City Council on Monday. Hood said in his resignation his last day with Pinehurst will be June 15.
Hood was approved by the Vidor City Council following an executive session on Thursday, May 14, to be that city’s new city manager. He has been the city administrator for the City of Pinehurst for over five years and has been in municipal government for 22 years.
During his years in Pinehurst Hood believes he and the city staff made great strides to improve the city. He worked with the Public Works Department to get the $6.8 million infrastructure improvement grant started in the last few months to help Pinehurst recover from Tropical Storm Harvey.
Hood talked about the challenge of moving to his new job in Vidor. “I’m looking forward to the challenges and working together with the team of Vidor and help move Vidor forward just like we’ve done here in Pinehurst,” Hood replied.
The move is an effort to further Hood’s career. He has aspired to get to a medium sized municipality, and the Vidor job will allow him to stay local. “I can stay in Orange County which is the county I love and work side by side with Commissioner Viator and our Orange County Judge Gothia to help all of Orange County grow and prosper,” Hood explained.
In leaving Pinehurst, Hood had some appreciative words for the mayor, the city council, and the municipal employees there saying they were the greatest people to work with forming a great team for the city. “I truly appreciate the five years I’ve been here, it’s been a blessing, and I’ve been proud to be a part of the Pinehurst family,” Hood concluded.
The next City Council meeting in Pinehurst will be Hood’s last with that city on Tuesday, June 9. Hood’s first day as the City Manager in Vidor will be the following Tuesday, June 16.
