Sunday Update: Beaumont Police have worked quickly and have arrested a second man in the murder of Ebonie Gilbert. He is 21 year old Javonta Turner (above). BPD says they’re now looking for 20 year old Tydrick Davis for his involvement in this crime. (Update: Davis was arrested Monday)
Saturday Update: Beaumont Police arrested 21 year-old DCorey Bershard Shillow after his family turned him in. After they interviewed him he was charged with murdering Ebonie Gilbert.
Beaumont Police are investigating a homicide Thursday night in the 3500 block of Bennett Rd.
Investigators have uncovered video evidence from the homeowners ring doorbell camera that shows a brutal, cold-blooded killing. The homeowner, 39-year-old Ebonie Gilbert, formerly of Orange, interrupted the burglary of her vehicle in her own driveway about 8pm. Gilbert went outside to confront the burglars and they shot her in her driveway and then ran away. She tried to get back into her home to try to call for help, but was unable to before she died. She was found by family on Friday.
