A high-speed chase that started with Louisiana State Police went through Orange County on Interstate 10 Wednesday afternoon. The car and driver finally stopped in Beaumont.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reports Louisiana troopers contacted them about 2 p.m. after the driver of a 2006 Honda car would not stop.
DPS troopers saw the car speeding into Texas on westbound Interstate 10. The driver would not stop for patrol vehicles with emergency lights flashing. The chase went across Orange County and ended when the driver stopped near the MLK exit in Beaumont in Jefferson County.
DPS Sergeant Stephanie Davis said the driver was 38-year-old Viren Panchel of Beaumont. He was arrested and is facing several charges, including speeding and evading arrest.
