Herman Dale Cloud, 77, of Lufkin passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 in Lufkin. He was born on July 31, 1941, in Orange, Texas, the son of Clifford and Lessie Stroud Cloud.
Herman grew up in Deweyville, Texas and shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Army where he spent 3 years in Germany as a sharpshooter. During the 70’s he spent several years helping to build the Alaskan pipeline. This brought on a great love of fishing, hunting, prospecting, and treasure hunting. He also thoroughly enjoyed reading his Bible and Louis Lamour novels. His sense of humor and wit was something everyone knew him for as well. He often joked about coming to your house and chasing you around and beating you with a stick. Herman was a man of few words, but those closest to him will carry on the great things he taught them and the honor of which he lived his life by.
He is survived by his son, Tyson Cloud and wife, Julia of Warren, Tx; brothers: Bobby Cloud and wife, Francis of Deweyville, Ronnie Cloud and wife, Sheryl of Indiana, Gary Cloud and wife, Nadine of Mauriceville, Greg Cloud and wife, Judy of Wildwood; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, along with other family and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Newton Cloud and Lessie Stroud Cloud, his daughter, Shawne Moore, son, Shevin Dale Cloud, and granddaughter, Jodi Cloud
The family of Mr. Cloud is being served by Laird Funeral Home. To convey condolences and to sign an online register please visit www.lairdfh.net.
