Monday night the West Orange-Stark Mustangs did everything but finish off the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks. The team from Sour Lake went home with the 66-61 win.
The Mustangs defense was RE-LENT-LESS, especially in the first half as they took a 28-25 lead into the locker room at the half. They lead by as much as 12 before the Hawks hit some buckets before the second quarter ended.
In the third H-J took the lead with 4:15 left in the quarter, but it was the Mustangs lead by Jamikel Davis who came back to take a 48-45 lead after three.
In the fourth the Hawks turned Mustang turnovers into points as they came back for the five point win. Davis lead WOS with 23 and Tavion Thomas led HJ with 22 including 10-11 from the free throw line.
WOS will compete in the Orangefield Tournament beginning Thursday. The bracket is below.
