Sales tax receipts for local entities have continued to increase with the recovery after Tropical Storm Harvey. The Texas Comptroller’s Office this week mailed sales tax shares to cities and counties. The checks cover sales for the month of December and the Christmas season.
The five largest cities in the county all had increases for the month and for the year to date. Orange County was down slightly for the month of December 2017 compared to the same time in 2016, however the county has a healthy increase in sales tax checks received this year.
Local sales tax checks are:
Bridge City: $185,000 for the month compared to $155,000 last year, a 19.1 percent increase. $332,500 for the year to date compared to $273,000 last year, a 21.89 percent increase.
Orange: $547,000 for the month compared to $411,000 last year, a 33.14 percent increase. $996,700 for the year to date compared to $700,500 last year, a 42.27 percent increase.
Pinehurst: $75,200 for the month compared to $65,675 last year, a 14.52 percent increase. $130,415 for the year to date compared to $108,400 last year, a 20.28 percent increase.
Vidor: $321,300 for the month compared to $263,400 last year, a 21.99 percent increase. $558,250 for the year to date compared to $448,360 last year, a 24.5 percent increase.
West Orange: $149,400 for the month compared to $128,400 for last year, a 16.3 percent increase. $260,000 for the year to date compared to $228,000 last year, a 14.1 percent increase.
Orange County: $521,800 for the month compared to $538,500 last year, a decrease of 3 percent. $965,000 for the year to date compared to $865,300 last year, a 11.53 percent increase.
Orange County Emergency Services District No. 3 (Little Cypress Fire and Rescue): $20,600 for the month compared to $18,400 last year, an 11.86 percent increase. $33,700 for the year to date compared to $33,100 last year, a 4 percent increase.
