Harold was born on October 26, 1943 in San Angelo, Texas, to parents, Robert and Nancy “Polly” Large. He was married to his wife, Cindy on April 24, 1965 and the couple shared almost 57 years together. Harold was drafted in the US Army on January 19, 1965 and assigned to the 864th Engineer Battalion during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on November 26, 1966. Harold and Cindy moved to Orange, Texas where he worked in the natural gas industry for over 40 years. He was a jack of all trades, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or build. Harold enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his family. As a father of three girls, he made sure they could shoot a rifle, bait a hook, change a tire, and many other useful skills they swore they’d never use.
He is preceded in death by his wife Cindy Large, daughter Vanessa Shannon, father Harold Killam, parents Robert and Nancy “Polly” Large and brother Bobby Large.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Gennie Large (Terry Block) of Mauriceville, Tx and Pam Constance of Sulphur, La, son-in-law Eddie Shannon of Buna, Tx, brother Luther Large and sister Becky Large both of San Angelo, Tx, and three grandchildren; Tyler Block, Garrett Shannon and Cole Constance and many wonderful friends.
