At the end of the basketball season in February, then LCM basketball coach Darin Harley told KOGT this season would be his last after 11 seasons and 7 postseason appearances with the Bears. At the time he didn’t know what he would be doing next other than moving north to join his wife who had taken a new job.
On Monday, Harley was selected as the new head boys basketball coach at Troup High School, Harley’s Alma Mater where he graduated in 1985. Troup is located just south of Tyler.
Harley said, “I am excited to be going back to my alma mater. Troup has a deep tradition in basketball. My wife Shelly and I both grew up there. We are part of that tradition. We have been a little down recently, but I welcome the challenge. I hope my experience can help make a difference. My philosophy will remain the same as it was here at LCM: Make Plays, Not Excuses.”
