A special birthday celebration was held in West Orange Friday afternoon. About 20 first responders from around Orange County with their sirens blaring and horns honking paraded in a neighborhood to honor Randy Holston on his 66th birthday.
On January 14, 1960, Randy was injured in an automobile accident that left him handicapped. In 1961, Randy was the Easter Seal Poster Child for the Cripple Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, LA.
Orange County Judge John Gothia congratulated Randy on this special day. The cities of Orange and West Orange presented Holston with proclamations to celebrate his birthday. Councilman Randy Branch read the proclamation from West Orange, and Mayor Larry Spears Jr. of Orange presented a similar proclamation for the City of Orange.
Twyla George with Compassion Hospice organized the event to Randy who is one of their patients. Randy said he was very excited to hear the sirens from all the first responders.
