Greg Hackney from Gonzales, Louisiana took a commanding lead on Day One of the Sabine River Challenge with a bag of bass weighing 16-3 with a 5-14 kicker which was also the big bass of the day.
All 108 fishermen crossed the stage and used the same word to describe the day…HOT! And it wasn’t the fishing necessarily it was the heat. Some boats even came in before they had to because they were “done.”
It was actually impressive that 18 Elites brought in sacks of ten pounds or more.
Of course it’s too early in the game for most of the anglers to talk about where they are fishing and what they’re fishing with. All of them will fish Friday with takeoff at 6am and then the top 50 get to fish on Saturday.
