The new County Constable for Precinct 2 Jeremiah Gunter received his oath of office Tuesday in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Administration Building at the Orange County Courthouse complex. Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2 Chad Jenkins administered the oath.
Gunter was appointed on May 12 by the Commissioners Court to replace Mark Jones as the Precinct 2 Constable after Jones resigned from the position. Gunter ran unopposed in the March Republican primary and has no opponent in the general election.
Having served previously as a Sheriff’s deputy Gunter has worked hard to earn this new position and is looking forward to serving the citizens of Precinct 2 as Constable. “I want to let people know that I’m here and want to help them,” Gunter said.
The Commissioners Court approved Gunter’s bond to be the constable at $1,500. The bond was certified during its meeting Tuesday and is the standard amount for that position.
