Dean Granger was elected Tuesday to be president of the City of Orange Economic Development board of directors.
The appointed EDC board met for the first time with two new members and selected officers. Besides Granger, other officers are Larry Spears Jr., vice president; Gail Barnett, secretary; and Michael Smith, treasurer.
Spears is one of three city council members on the EDC board. Others are Bill Mello and Mayor Jimmy Sims.
The Orange City Council met after the EDC on Tuesday and reappointed two incumbents to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Others appointed to the commission were Weldon Smith and George Mortimer.
Moritmer recently completed his term limits on the EDC board. Michael Smith had been on the Planning and Zoning Commission but resigned after being appointed to the EDC board.
The two incumbents reappointed are Cullin Smith and Jamie Wilson. The city had six applicants for the openings. Incumbent Mary Ekene was not reappointed.
Tiffany Bell, who applied for the commission, was instead appointed to the Zoning Board of Adjustments. Spears said he talked to her and she agreed to serve. The council also appointed Demetrius Moffet to the Zoning Board of Adjustments.
