The Golden K Kiwanis Club of Orange learned about the scenery, wildlife, and adventures of Antarctica during their meeting Wednesday. Beaumont dentist Dr. Sam Showalter shared memories of his recent cruise with the Lindblad-National Geographic Expeditions to the Antarctica Peninsula. Showalter loves traveling and photography. He has taken thousands of pictures during his trips to different destinations. The cruise to Antarctica lasted three weeks and originated in the Falkland Islands with stops in several locations. Showalter used a slide show to spotlight the fascinating animals like penguins and seals, numerous bird species, and the marvelous landscapes near the South Pole. The meeting was held in the Salvation Army Post in Orange.
