Gloria Renet Wallace Brown was born August 3, 1950 in Orange, Texas to S.W. Wallace Sr. and Lola McClelland Wallace. She was the 4th child of 5 siblings.
Gloria graduated from Wallace High School in 1969, where she met and later married Claude Brown Sr. Through this union 2 children were born. She was a devoted mother and hard worker. She worked at Levington Shipbuilding for many years. When it closed, she became a Housekeeping Supervisor at Jones Nursing Home, from which she retired.
Sis. Gloria received Christ early in life and was a devoted member of El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she attended faithfully. She served in several auxiliaries, such as a Sunday School Teacher, Gospel Choir, Usher Board, Pastor’s Aid, and Supervisor over the Hospitality Committee, until she became ill.
Gloria was an extremely outgoing person who loved her family tremendously. If you ever had a conversation with her, she would boast about her sons, and how they blessed her with so many grandchildren. She enjoyed family gathering, which was every day, on the Slab. In her words we would “fellowship together”. She will truly be missed by her family and friends. It will never be the same without her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, S.W. Wallace Sr. and Lola McClelland Wallace, brother Floyd Wallace Sr., grandchildren Ja’Royious Green, Brandon Ceaser and nephew Byron Wallace, all of Orange Texas.
Left to celebrate Gloria’s homegoing and forever cherish her memory are her children Claude Brown Jr. (Carla Brown also known as her daughter) and Jimmy Brown Sr., one sister Lois Wallace Smith, three brother’s S.W. Wallace, Jr. (Sheila), Mickey Wallace (Nikki), and Daryle Bowens (Roslyn), 30 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, and best friend/sister, Joyce Ann Powell all of Orange, Texas, a special friend, Ehrman Phillips of Port Arthur, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
