Glenda Jane Sparks was born on November 16,1955 in Orange, Texas to the late Clarence Sparks Sr. and Glenda Sparks. Giving the nickname Jeannie form being in love with the show, “I Dream of Jeannie”. She graduated with the class of 1975 from Lutcher Starks School. Jeannie’s passion for helping others lead her to a career in the healthcare field. Jeannie work as a local nursing home as well as in private home. She had her first child early in life, Clarence Stephens Sparks, better known as “Peanut”, her pride and joy. Having Peanut at a young age did not slow her down, yet motivated her to work harder. Nine years later, she had “Bless”, and married Elroy Chavis Sr., Jeannie was big on family. She was the sister to 10 siblings. She loved her church, bingo, and playing cards; to know her was to love her. You couldn’t just tell Jeannie, “I love you”, you would have to say, “I love you around the world and back again.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Clarence Stephens Sparks, two brothers, Adam Washington and Willie “Sweet” Sparks. Two sisters, Martha Vilo and Nessia Sparks.
Forever cherishing her memories is her daughter Bless (Bob), daughter in law Rewa Sparks (Clarence), grandkids Jacoby Sparks (Charlie), Jadasez Sparaks (Courtney), Lakiya Smith and Jabron Smith. Her three great-grand daughters Iveigh, Everleigh, and Jada Sparks. Sisters Mary Quinn, Mattie Williams, JoAnn King and Clara Booker. Her two brothers Robert Washington (Bridget) and Clarence Sparks (Carolyn). Her long-time best friend Mel Rideb-Sparks (Spades partner) and a host of family and friends.
Going home celebration will be Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Services will be held at Mount Calvary Baptist Church located at 612 N. 3rd St. Orange, Texas 77630. Visitation begins at 11:00 AM until time of service. Interment to follow at Hollywood Cemetery.
