Fuller (Maurice) Williams, age 91, of Orange, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, September 7, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Maurice was born on September 23, 1933, in Fairdale, Texas, to Willis Owen Williams and Essie Pearl Travis. He spent part of his early life in Lake Charles, Louisiana before returning to Fairdale, where he met the love of his life, Willie Reba Ladner. The two were married and shared 68 beautiful years together.
Maurice and Reba made their home in Orange, Texas, before settling into their own slice of heaven—their farm in Newton, Texas. Maurice found true joy in farm life. Whether baling hay, tending to crops, caring for animals, or simply soaking in the peace and quiet of the countryside, he embraced every moment. He spent his last years back in Orange, Texas, settling just down the street from his best friend and son, Gary.
Above all, Maurice’s greatest accomplishment was his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving grandfather, and a doting great-grandfather. His life was richly blessed by the time he spent with those he cherished most. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved Reba and all of the loved ones who went before him. His legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Maurice was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Reba Ladner Williams; his parents, Willis Owen Williams and Essie Pearl Travis; his brother-in-law, Thomas Ladner; sister-in-law, Katie Smith and husband, Harold, and Leona Warden and husband, J.D.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Gary Williams and wife, Barbara; granddaughters Ashley Williams, Crissy Fuqua and husband, Blake; grandson, Michael Holmes and wife, Vickie; great-grandchildren, Lennyn Fuqua and Andy Holmes; sister-in-law, Clarene Anderson and husband, John, and Mary Shores and husband, Freddy; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 11th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Fairdale Baptist Church (4820 Fairdale Rd., Hemphill, Texas) under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Lowe and Bro. Mike Anderson officiating.
Visitation will begin prior to the service at 12:00 PM.
Burial will follow at Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Hemphill, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Lewis, Jarred Lewis, Keith Mauer, John Anderson, Mark Anderson, Todd Anderson, Blake Fuqua, and Michael Holmes.
